Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense In America Reacts to Shots Fired at Sparks Middle School in Nevada

October 21, 2013

1382377961000-AP-Middle-School-ShootingOur hearts go out to the families, teachers, and administrators terrorized by the shooting today at Sparks Middle School outside Reno, Nevada in Washoe County.

This is the 16th school shooting in 2013. We are devastated that, once again, children are being terrorized by gun violence. We offer our support to the families and the community as they are faced with the lingering effects of gun violence. As mothers, we will not tolerate living in a country where we are afraid to send our children to school because they could be shot and killed. We encourage moms to join this fight and act to protect our children. Parents must hold their elected officials accountable to fix the broken laws that allow these tragedies to occur far too often.

Moms Demand Action and our members will not sit idly by while children are killed by gun violence, whether it is in homes, schools, or parks. This epidemic of gun violence that is raging out of control in America is unacceptable and we demand our elected officials put the safety of constituents and families first. The time has come to pass new and stronger gun laws in America.
