The New Jersey chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America has today launched a targeted campaign asking Representatives Garrett and LoBiondo to explain their A’ ratings from the National Rifle Association. The NRA supports several extreme positions, including:

  • Making it Easy for Terrorists to Buy Guns: The NRA has opposed efforts to block terror suspects from buying firearms and explosives.
  • Keeping Felons Armed: The NRA fought for the rights of felons to buy and own firearms.
  • Endangering Victims of Domestic Violence: The NRA has opposed laws requiring dangerous domestic abusers to surrender their guns.

You can find more information about why voters will be asking Representatives Garrett and LoBiondo to explain their ‘A” here and here.

The campaign comes just ahead of midterm election as Moms from around the country – and in New Jersey – are ramping up mobilization efforts to galvanize support for gun sense champions. The campaign to ask Representatives Garrett and LoBiondo to explain their ratings is part of a national campaign to ask candidates to explain their ‘A.’

“Voters in New Jersey deserve to know where the candidates stand on public safety and what Representatives Garrett and LoBiondo did to deserve their ‘A’ ratings. The NRA believes in putting suspected terrorists, convicted felons, and domestic abusers ahead of our children and the safety of our communities,” said Kristin Wald, a volunteer with the New Jersey chapter of Moms Demand Action. “When Moms cast their votes this November, they’ll turn that ‘A’ rating into last place at the ballot box.”

“Moms across the country are using our voices and our votes to change America’s culture of gun violence, one law, one company and – starting this November – one election at a time,” said Shannon Watts, Founder of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. “The NRA ‘A’ rating – which aligns with extreme positions Americans don’t support – won’t garner votes from Moms this election season. Gun sense champions who pledge to keep our families and communities safe from gun violence will get the votes of American mothers this election and beyond.”
