Missouri Moms Demand Action, Everytown Criticize Committee Vote Advancing Dangerous Bill That Would Arm Faculty and Allow Concealed Handguns on College Campuses

April 25, 2019

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The Missouri chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, part of Everytown for Gun Safety, today released the following statement after the Transportation and Public Safety Committee voted to advance HB 575, which would allow colleges to arm faculty and force public colleges to allow people to carry concealed handguns on campus.

“This legislation would roll back public safety laws that help Missouri law enforcement departments protect college campuses,” said Becky Morgan, volunteer chapter leader with the Missouri chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. “As this moves forward in the legislature, lawmakers should listen closely to the concerns of students, faculty and law enforcement, and they should reject this dangerous proposal.”
