ABERDEEN, Md. – The Maryland chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, part of Everytown for Gun Safety, today issued the following statement in response to reports that three people were shot and killed and several others injured at a Rite-Aid distribution center. While details are still unfolding, this comes a day after a shooting at a commercial building in Wisconsin and another at a Pennsylvania courthouse. Reports indicate the suspected shooter has died.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, in an average year, there are more than 350 workplace shootings in the U.S. In 2016 alone, there were 500 workplace homicides, and nearly four out of five of these homicides involved a firearm.

All Marylanders should be safe in their workplaces, and this shooting is a tragic reminder that we need to do more to prevent gun violence in our state.”
