Ohio Moms Demand Action, Everytown Respond to Shooting at a Cincinnati Gender Reveal Party

July 10, 2017

CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Ohio chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, part of Everytown for Gun Safety, today released the following statement after a shooting at a gender reveal party Sunday in Cincinnati that left a 22-year-old woman dead and eight other people injured, including the expectant mother and three children aged 2, 6 and 8.

Across the country, more than 90 people are killed by gun violence every day, and hundreds more are injured. More information about U.S. gun violence is available here.

STATEMENT FROM MAUREEN WASHOCK, VOLUNTEER CHAPTER LEADER WITH THE OHIO CHAPTER OF MOMS DEMAND ACTION FOR GUN SENSE IN AMERICA:

“No parent or child should have to experience this real-life nightmare. It’s hard to imagine a clearer wake-up call than this that we need to do more to prevent gun violence. Going forward, we’ll work harder than ever to push for stronger public safety laws in the Buckeye State – and to oppose dangerous gun lobby-backed efforts to weaken common-sense laws currently on the books in Ohio. Our thoughts today are with everyone affected by this truly horrific tragedy.”
