Groups Push For Tighter Gun Laws 6 Months After Sandy Hook Shooting

22596093_BG1Activists in Ohio joined protestors in ten different states Friday, calling on Congress to tighten gun laws.

It’s been six months since 20 children and six adults were gunned down at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newton, Conn. Friday was marked as a day of remembrance, with gatherings in front of the offices of U.S. representatives and senators.Protestors are asking legislators to take a second look at background checks for gun buyers. The names of the Sandy Hook victims were read out loud, along with 40 Central Ohioans who were fatally shot since December.

“There have been over 5,000 deaths from gunfire in this country since December 2012. We find that to be shameful,” said Kelly Cameron, of Moms Demand Action For Gun Sense America.
