Authorities Report That at Least Four People Were Shot and Killed at Two Different Scenes

POLK COUNTY, Ga. – The Georgia chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, part of Everytown for Gun Safety, released the following statement in response to reports of a mass shooting in Polk County that left at least four people dead and one wounded.

Research by Everytown for Gun Safety shows that this is at least the 194th mass shooting since January 2009 and at least the second in 2019. Everytown defines mass shootings as those in which four or more people are shot and killed, excluding the shooter.

STATEMENT FROM PAGE RAST, VOLUNTEER LEADER WITH THE GEORGIA CHAPTER OF MOMS DEMAND ACTION FOR GUN SENSE IN AMERICA:

“Today, we woke up to news of yet another senseless act of gun violence. I am heartbroken for the families that have been forever shattered. As we remember those taken from us too soon, we must also call on our elected leaders in Georgia to honor the victims with action to prevent further gun violence. We won’t rest until our families are safe.”
