Watch the New Ad From Everytown and Moms Demand Action HERE – This Is What Freedom Really Looks Like

WASHINGTON – Everytown for Gun Safety and Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense In America launched a new ad today in response to the NRA’s disturbing ad, which sought to sow fear and division just as Americans prepared to celebrate our Independence on July 4.

WATCH OUR NEW AD: “FREEDOM.”

The NRA ad has drawn condemnation from groups and individuals across the political spectrum, including Everytown, Moms Demand Action and the Women’s March, which sent an open letter to NRA CEO Wayne LePierre to address the gun advocacy group’s fraught relationship with marginalized groups of Americans. One former CIA analyst even said the ad “fuels American extremists.

The NRA responded by saying they were “proud” of the ad. They have since doubled down again, and describe critics of the ad as “individuals who sanction arson“, who sanction property destruction, who sanction assault of innocent people.”

STATEMENT FROM JOHN FEINBLATT, PRESIDENT OF EVERYTOWN FOR GUN SAFETY:

“The gun lobby loves to talk about freedom, but then they shamefully traffic in fear and violence in order to advance their dangerous ‘more guns for anyone, anywhere’ political agenda. The NRA’s frankly un-American ad isn’t reflective of who we are as citizens or what our country stands for. This Independence Day, we’re celebrating the values we share as Americans and the many things a vast majority of people in this country agree on, including the need for stronger common-sense gun laws. As the gun lobby seeks to divide our country through fear and division, we will come together and work together to make our communities stronger and safer for everyone.”

STATEMENT FROM SHANNON WATTS, FOUNDER OF MOMS DEMAND ACTION FOR GUN SENSE IN AMERICA:

“The gun lobby thinks it can incite a cultural war between people of different races, religions, sexual orientations and political persuasions. It’s sick and cynical and un-American. That’s not what freedom looks like and Americans are already rejecting the NRA leadership’s politics of hate and division. Together, we will continue the protect our freedoms and the safety of our families by working to create a future free of gun violence, fear and hate.”
