Everytown, Louisiana Moms Demand Action Respond to Shooting Death of Former NFL Player Joe McKnight

December 1, 2016

28-Year-Old Joe McKnight was Shot and Killed During An Argument in Terrytown

NEW ORLEANS— In response to reports that former NFL player Joe McKnight was shot and killed during an argument at an intersection in Terrytown tonight, the Louisiana chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, part of Everytown for Gun Safety, released the statement below.

STATEMENT FROM HENRIETTA TREYZ, VOLUNTEER CHAPTER LEADER, LOUISIANA MOMS DEMAND ACTION:

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Joe McKnight, who today became one of the 91 Americans killed by senseless gun violence everyday. As we come together to mourn Joe McKnight, let us also come together to disarm hate and do more to keep guns out of the wrong hands. Everyday activities like driving should not leave us vulnerable to the threat of gun violence. That is not the Louisiana—or the America—we want for our children and families. We refuse to let this become the new normal.”
