Moms Express Disappointment in State Legislators who Introduced Bill; Proposed Legislation would Allow Individuals to Carry Loaded, Hidden Handguns in Classrooms and on College Campuses
FRANKFORT, Ky –- The Kentucky chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, a part of Everytown for Gun Safety, today released the following statement in response to the introduction of House Bill 221, legislation that would force colleges and universities to allow guns on campus and would allow guns in K-12 schools. The bill, introduced earlier this month, sits before the House Judiciary Committee and could then move on to a vote in the state’s House of Representatives.

“It’s deeply troubling that some of our Kentucky politicians appear determined to force guns into classrooms and school buildings. That just plain doesn’t make sense. It’s reckless and irresponsible. As a mother and a Kentuckian, I’m hopeful that Kentucky voters will join Moms Demand Action and others in making sure this bill doesn’t become law. Our kids go to school to learn and guns on campus policies do nothing to improve the learning environment. I urge our state’s leaders to stand on the side of commonsense and make sure that HB 221 never becomes law.”
